
Five weeks after the toxic mud catastrophe engulfed Kolontar and Devecser, a resemblence of life is returning to normal: some people are returning to their homes and the train line between Devescer and Ajka is open again; although the red earth is still a disturbing sight and vehicles leaving the area need to be sprayed down.

Although the Torna creek continues to flow red and the Marcal river is still showing some signs of distress, disaster was avoided downstream of the Marcal river; in the Rivers Raba and Danube.
