A search on Google brings up 16,600,000 returns. That's just ridiculous!
I know Rome is sometimes refered to as la Città Eterna, or Eternal City, but there aren't even that many 'hotel rooms' in Rome; if you wanted to sleep in a different one every night, for the rest of your life.
If there were, you'd be on this planet for over 45,479 years. Now that's pretty eternal.
When I took a look at the Rome Hotels section, on Search Hotels, I found myself looking at a moving panoromic image of Amsterdam.
Now why would I want to be looking at a mini webcast of a city at the other end of Europe, if I wanted to find a nice hotel room in Rome?
A little search box next to it had two destination options: Amsterdam and Barcelona.
How strange. So what's the deal on Rome?
There were four pictures of 'Rome Hotel specials' and if I scrolled down, offers for Amsterdam Hotels, Paris Hotels, London Hotels, Prague Hotels, Dublin Hotels and even New York Hotels.
Why try and confuse someone who's looking for a hotel in Rome?
I think I'll do what I always do when I visit Rome by train. Walk out of the station and check into the first hotel with a clean room. Unless they have a picture of Amsterdam on the wall in reception.
Or maybe I'll treat myself to a few nights at a hotel with a pool, like the Crowne Plaza; a little outside of the city.
